Role Description:

This role will involve delivering Science Sessions in person to groups of between 5-10 children within the same year groups. The material, training and content needed for this role will be provided by Sci4Us. Prior to delivering the sessions, Staff at Sci4Us will talk and train the volunteer through every experiment and activity so that they are prepared and in the best position to deliver the sessions. 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Science and good at working with young people.  As Science and STEM subject can sometimes be negatively perceived we are trying to change this notion, by helping to create, inspire and spread the love and appreciation of STEM from a young age and this involves delivering fun, innovate sessions to the young people we have. 

In this role you will be:

  • Tutoring and delivering science sessions via Zoom 
  • Interacting, engaging and building relationships with students
  • Thinking of different ways to engage and keep students interested 

Requirements for this role:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Passion for teaching 
  • Good with young people 
  • Have to be energetic 
  • Organisational skills 
  • An ability to multitask
  • Problem solving skills 

Time commitment (2-3 hours per week)

  • One evening per week to go through session with Sci4Us Staff (1 hour) 
  • Saturday (1.5 hours)
